How to Motivate Your Team to Pull Off the Impossible?

Great things in business are never done by one person; they’re done by a team of people.

Steve Jobs

Ad agency is usually a creative and happening platform, where any task does not require only passion but also, a collective imagination to render the best outcome. At an advertisement agency, great effort requires great understanding of the vision about any task and takes relevant audacity and dedication to execute it. But can it be done individually? The answer is No, it cannot; that would be too narcissistic and it is said that in order to achieve remarkable results, do not let your team driven by a dictatorship.

It is nearly impossible that any single individual just cannot perform in an isolated capacity as the advancement of the approach to work has been transformed in these modern times and it always requires teamwork. Project work can be huge and other competitors are not to be underestimated. As a leader of my team, I would prefer to take a lead in the competition.  In order to make it possible, choosing right person for the right job at the right time is essential and the best of teams’ imagination needs to be extracted. Along with many things, some of the following steps have core value for me;

To pull off the impossible, my team will need to be clear; Clarity about the company’s core purpose and especially about the particular task needs to be completely understood by every member of the team, without any amount of ambiguity. Initially, any sort of questions are expected. Once it’s done, set them free to think and articulate the work in their own ways, creatively. After the cultivation of trusted environment, people can deliver in an unprecedented way. As Steve Jobs said;

“Teamwork is dependent on trusting the other folks to come through with their part without watching them all the time.”

Furthermore, in order to get unique ideas out of each mind in my team, remove their skepticism about the concept (s) and listen to their questions and make sure of availability to answer those questions. Resultantly, every passionate talented member will then be able to dedicate his/ her full concentration after the proper orientation and cognisance about the vision. Therefore, communications becomes the key in order to attain the required outcome.

Other important deal is always as a leading member would be making sure the accessibility for everyone, skilled or conceptually; provide every possible resources and support, as well as any helpful material.

As the head of my team, Leading from the front would be important strategy for me to set a yardstick for all, to work hard and dedicatedly. The things I am expecting from my team, I need to be demonstrating them in an easygoing way. If something goes off the plan e.g. client’s objections, conceptual or operational errors etc.; I need to take responsibility at the behalf of my team and for everything. By doing so, learning from mistakes can assure the improved work for next work.

Every positive development needs to be appreciated, no matter how little this contribution is. Praising the team for their talent, effort and creative minds always boost the confidence and willingness to work to their best.

Conclusively, to pull off the impossible and for achieving desired outcomes, as a responsible team leader, I have to make sure that everybody’s ideas and work is registered and due credit should be given to each individual for their effort(s). Therefore, the essence is that in any circumstance, the team has to move forward, focused on finding and generating solutions than paying more heed to the problems that come along in the team work. To sum it up, Phil Jackson said;
