How to Recover Apple ID If you Forgot It

Apple ID is integral to remember as we need it to get into the Apple App Store, iCloud, iTunes. If you forget your password and you are not able to reset it from the web browser on your iPhone or Mac, then you should try these methods.

Return to Your Apple Account Through Email or Security Question

If there is no two-factor authentication option, then you can use the email address, or even you can use a security question to change your password.

Here are steps to go through it:

  1. Go to the web browser and type iforgot.apple.com.
  2. Then, submit your Apple ID email address.
  3. After it, click on continue.
  4. Opt the given option I need to recover my password.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. Choose Get an email or Answer security questions. In this example, we are selecting the option of “send an email.”
  7. Tap Continue.
  8. Select Done.
  9. After this, you will get an email from Apple titled “How to recover account and password.” 
  10. Select Reset Now.
  11. Create a New Password.
  12. Confirm the Password again.
  13. Select Reset My Password.

Alternate: Security questions option

There is another way to get back into your account; the security question option.

  1. Identify your birthday.
  2. Select Continue.
  3. Answer the prompted two security questions.
  4. Select Continue.
  5. Create a New Password.
  6. Confirm the Password again.
  7. Select Reset My Password.

Two Factor Authentication Enabled

  1. Go to the web browser and enter iforgot.apple.com
  2. Type your Apple ID email address.
  3. Select Continue.
  4. Type the phone number given in the recovery option.
  5. Select Continue. They will ask you to pick up a device connected to your account.
  6. The user should be an iPhone holder.
  7. Click Allow.
  8. Type the passcode of an associated device.
  9. Click Done.
  10. Create New Apple ID and Password.
  11. Confirm it again.
  12. Select Next.
  13. Click Done.

Resetting  Apple ID Password on your iPhone.

This can be an easy way to get back into your account. If your phone is signed into iCloud already and you have a passcode on your phone.

  1. Select Settings of your phone.
  2. Click on the Apple ID banner.
  3. Select password and security.
  4. Select Change Password.
  5. Enter your iPhone passcode.
  6. Select Done.
  7. Make a new password and confirm it once.
  8. Select Change.

Reset Your Password on macOS Catalina

  1. Start System Preferences.
  2. Select Apple ID.
  3. Select password and security.
  4. Choose Change Password.
  5. Type your Mac Password if asked.
  6. Select Allow.
  7. Make a New Password.
  8. Confirm it.
  9. Tap Change.
