8 TRIVIAL MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT THE CORONA VIRUS DEBUNKED

As we all know the world has suddenly fell into a brink of chaos with the pandemic named as Covid-19 started spreading itself across from state to state, from nation to nation all across the globe and well in the midst of panic most people started to create their very own misconceptions about the Corona Virus. To be honest some of these misconceptions are hilarious to give a read, but some actually make quite a bit of sense in the eyes of a dreamer. But even if they make sense it doesn’t mean that they are true for you to just blindly follow.

Well, today we thought about taking a look on these misconception that people have seem to spread across the internet, and prove a point that not everything you read online is true. But before we get into debunking these misconceptions one must first know what actually is Covid-19, or the recent corona virus.

Covid-19 is the name set for the disease that emerged in Wuhan, China 2019. The disease is from a similar family of viruses known as the corona viruses. Now if you look closely you’ll see that we emphasis on Covid-19 and Corona Viruses separately because there are many different types of corona viruses, and Covid-19 is just similar to the virus family, this explanation is necessary since most people nowadays are watching pre-aired shows and questioning themselves about how did that show predict about corona virus. Well we hope that this statement answers the question they had now moving on Covid-19 causes, respiratory illness and can spread from person to person. It can easily be prevented by washing hands, staying at home if you have a weak immune system, and by coughing into your elbow. Now with all that said let’s jump right into the misconceptions or myths that people have regarding this virus.

GETTING CONTAMINATED BY THE VIRUS IS A DEATH SENTENCE

Viruses tend to act differently in their own way, and each time a new virus similar to Covid-19 emerges it’s really hard to determine of what sort of damage it could do. But based on the recent data collected by world health organization the mortality rate for the virus is extremely low like 2%, and maybe 19 to 20% for those with a weak immune system. But other than that it seems to be a mild viral infection that fazes with time, and proper treatment.

THIS IS THE MOST DANGEROUS VIRUS TILL DATE

This misconception is absolutely ridiculous, we admit that as soon as the virus started to spread throughout the globe, and caused people to get bed ridden instantly. It did seemed quite dangerous, but none the less this virus don’t even compare to the predecessors that wiped almost half of nations like the bubonic plague, or the Ebola virus which has a higher mortality rate then this virus.

WEARING MASKS WILL PROTECT US FROM THE VIRUS

Well for starters let’s talk about masks before getting into debunking this misconception. There are two types of masks that people seem to be wearing those that wear a surgical mask claiming this would help them beat the virus. Well stop immediately because it wouldn’t help, and those with a special N95 mask may have the chance to spread the airborne virus from getting into their system. But the thing about this specific virus is that even with a mask there are some chances that the virus could spread from skin to skin contact. So, one can never be too careful.

YOU CAN CONTRACT THE VIRUS FROM PACKAGES

Since the virus seemed to start from China most people instantly assumed that if they were to come in contact with the packages sent from china they will contract the virus. Unfortunately, this bit isn’t even a little bit true a virus needs a living organism to survive and even if the package was contaminated its highly unlikely for the virus to reach you because of how the long delays packages sent from country to country take.

TEENS AREN’T AFFECTED BY THE VIRUS

Though, it might be true that a young and healthy teen have high chances of recovering from the virus more quickly, and more sternly. But this still doesn’t raise a fact that they wouldn’t be affected by the virus. If a teen with a weak immune system was to contract this virus recovering can be quite difficult, especially for those with asthmatic problems, because once again this is a respiratory disease.

CORONA VIRUS AND CORONA BEER ARE RELATED

No, just a big ol no; one absolutely cannot even begin to put two of these things in the same sentence, because one already contains the word virus and the other contains beer. If a smart individual was to do the math then they could easily come to a solution that the corona word is simply Latin for crown. Hence the crown shaped logo on the bottle, the virus isn’t in familiarity with the product nor does it help in curing a disease. So, don’t go ahead and start drinking to cure yourself if you get tested positive.

CAN PETS SPREAD THE VIRUS

As of now there are no cases of pets spreading the virus, but if you turn it around its more likely for a sick individual to spread the virus to a pet. Maintaining social distancing isn’t just a made precaution for humans it’s also a precaution to save your beloved puppy too.

THE VIRUS IS MAN MADE

Infectious diseases can come to life due to many reasons! Let’s take climate change as an example. Since the ice caps have started to melt who knows how many organisms have started to get loose in our environment. Assuming that it’s a man-made genome to affect the human society or to bring about a downfall of one’s economy is a bit far-fetched. Since half the world is getting infected by the virus.

These are only a few misconceptions debunked that we thought were the most essential for people around the globe to understand. But seeing as that, plenty of other myths seem to be taking rise as people in quarantine do their own research. We again emphasis on one thing, that was said at the beginning of the blog. Not everything on the internet is true, and one should understand the delicate situation the world is in right now. Instead of spreading rumors regarding the virus one should be spreading positive news, and solutions to help all the others that might be facing a difficult time due to the pandemic. One should be sharing things that can help others save their time, and money during this time instead of spreading rumors. But our flaws are what makes us human so not much can be said about this matter.
