6 Basic Steps to Deep Clean Your Couch

The couches in our living room can accumulate a huge amount of dirt and dust. Clean your couch and furniture is not an easy task. You can’t wash them like your clothes into a washing machine. Therefore, maintaining neat and clean couches is very difficult. It is recommended to clean spills on your couch immediately so that they do not transform into tough stains that are not easy to remove.

Spills are not just the only problem, your couches get a lot of wear and tear. Therefore, it is important to clean your couches. But, how to clean a couch? First, of all, you should get ready with the cleaning supplies such as a good quality HEPA vacuum backpack cleaner, cleaning solution, warm water, microfiber cloth, etc.

1. Vacuum Clean Your Couch

The vacuum cleaners with attachments help you to remove dirt and food crumbs from your couch. You should start cleaning the couch with a commercial backpack HEPA vacuum cleaner to remove the dust and debris that is deep inside the couch fabric.

2. Wipe Down You Couch

Wipes are not much efficient for cleaning your couch fabric. But, there are some wooden parts on your couch and they also collect dust and dirt. You can use a clean cloth to wipe down the wooden part of your couch. You can also use a cleaning solution to remove tough stains on the wooden part of your couch.

3. Check Cleaning Instructions By Manufacturer

There are different cleaning techniques for different kinds of material. The manufacturer always provides cleaning instructions on a tag attached to the couch. 4. Remove Tough Stains

You can get some specialized cleaning solutions from the market to get rid of tough stains. But, it is recommended to try these solutions in a hidden spot and ensure that they will not fade the colors of your couch.

You can also try some homemade cleaning solution but you should try and test them before applying them directly in the stain. Maybe you have a leather couch, then you can also clean it with a special cleaning solution and clean cloth.

For fabric

Add a mixture of ¼ cup vinegar, ¾ cups water, and a tablespoon of dish soap. Spray the stain liberally and scrub with a cloth until the stain disappears. Use an additional cloth to dry the spot.

For leather Couch

You should add 1/2 cup of olive oil and 1/2 cup of vinegar to make a cleaning solution for your leather couch. Fill this solution in a spray bottle and use it to clean the tough marks of stains. After that rub it with a clean cloth. You should finally let your couch dry completely.

For Synthetic Couch

You should 1/2 cup of vinegar in warm water. Also, ass 1/2 tablespoon of dishwashing solution. You should spray the cleaning solution, scrub it and finally allow it to dry completely.

5. Get Rid Of  Bad Smell

The baking soda can help you to say goodbye to foul smell from your couch. The baking soda is suitable for both kinds of couches – leather, and fabric as well. The baking soda is great when you want to get rid of smoke smell from your couch.

You have to sprinkle a little amount of baking soda in your couch and leave it for half an hour. After that take out your HEPA backpack vacuum cleaners and start removing the baking soda particles.

6. Let It Dry Completely

If you have a wet couch because you have had applied water for removing tough stains, then you should ensure that everything properly dried. You should never start to use your couch again until it is wet. If you leave the water in the cushion and couch fabric, then it will lead to the generation of molds and mildews.

When it is completely dry, then you should one last time run a HEPA vacuum cleaner backpack over it and get ready to watch your favorite TV show while enjoying your snacks on the couch.
