This little coastal town can only be accessed by sea or air since it is situated in the southernmost part of the Panhandle state, a small, narrow, fjord-like tongue of land. Mendenhall Glacier
There is an entirely panoramic view just 12 miles from Juneau city center. The Nugget Falls large stretches to a pool of icebergs and down into the edge of the sea, the Mendenhall glacier’s tongue. The Juneau Icefield, which occupies more than 1,500 square miles of land extends into British Columbia, feeds the glacier about 13 miles in length.
An excellent place to begin your tour is the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, which provides a 180-degree view of the glacier.
Tracy Arm Fjord
This ice-packed glacial fjord, located south-east of Juneau, intersects with a stunning panorama of waterfalls crashing down vertical rocky walls and glaciers tanning blocks of ice to form small mountains. At the top of the fjord are the imposing twin Sawyer Glaciers; their noticeable blue ice is particularly stunning. The guided tour of the lower landscaped gardens, including the story of the unparalleled Flower Tower planter from a vast 1984 slide, begins in this forested attraction.
After covering the lower grounds, the patrons sail aboard a free shuttle on Thunder Mountain to see the rest of the 50 hectares farm.
Glacier Bay National park
Glacier Bay National Park is one of Alaska’s most popular Within Passage and occupies more than three million hectares. On land and sea, natural sights and rewarding activities to be done can be found, with a spectacular setting with massive glaciers, temperate rain forests, remote fjords, and rugged coasts. Glacier Bay itself is situated between two headlands where eight glaciers enter the tidewaters. Bartlett Cove is the only location accessible for rent with established hiking trails and branded campsites on the land.
Mount Roberts Tramway
The Mount Roberts tramway will take you to an altitude of 1,800 feet from a base camp near the cruise ship docks. A nature park, a restaurant, a theatre, and a gift shop area at the mountaintop observatory. Following a vertical six-minute journey, tourists would walk along natural paths to get a view of the Gastineau Channel with interpretative details.
